I’ve always loved working with children and knew early on that I wanted my counseling career to focus on work with kids and families. After receiving my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Truman State University and my Masters in Social Work from Saint Louis University, I soon realized my education was far from over. After encountering some heart-wrenching situations with my young child clients, I knew I needed to continue to build on my skills and pursued credentialing as a Registered Play Therapist. Over time I earned my Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor credential and also enjoy providing supervision to colleagues new to the world of play therapy.
Over the past 20 years, I’ve been blessed to work with kids of all ages, in school, office and telehealth settings. Being a witness to a child’s feelings and experiences through play therapy is truly a privilege. Most recently I’ve completed a certification in FirstPlay® Infant Play Therapy, and I’m excited to now work with families and children as young as newborns. As a parent myself, I believe that supporting the child and the parents/guardians is essential to the therapy process.
I enjoy working with other mental health professionals and provide supervision and consultation to those working toward their RPT, SB-RPT and/or LCSW in Missouri.
In addition to her clinical work with children and families, I also have over 5 years of experience in managing and supervising staff and programs. Previously, I provided training in play therapy and also developed and taught a play therapy sequence of graduate level classes for the University of Missouri - St. Louis.
Outside of work, my husband and I are busy raising two wonderful boys with a new addition of a spunky puppy named Hank. We love spending time with our church community, and I’ve enjoyed working with kids through our church as well. I am thankful God gives me the opportunity to do this amazing job.
